There are several different indoor sessions of Boy Scout Leader Specific training to choose from. All of our council’s Boy Scout Leader Trainers have quality presentations. People may choose to participate in training sessions in any district and may choose dates that suit their needs. Check in and gathering for the weeknight courses starts at 6:30 p.m. with the session starting at 7:00 p.m. Check in and gathering for the Saturday courses starts at 8:00 a.m. and the session starts at 8:30 a.m. The total fee for Boy Scout Leader Training is $37.00. The sessions are $7.00 for New Leader Essentials, $10.00 Leader Specific and the fee for Introduction to Outdoor Skills is $20.00. The fees cover the cost of a Leader Specific book, the handouts you receive, and replenishment of the training kits with current information. It additionally covers the cost of the food purchased for you at the Introduction to Outdoor Skills. If you have taken New Leader Essentials you do not need to take it again. In most cases the Leader Specific training will start 2 hours after the course start time.

Some of the trainers will make arrangements to do non-scheduled training sessions. Arrangements are made with the trainer, not through the council office. It is always recommended that you participate in the scheduled training sessions so you can network with other leaders.

Boy Scout Leader Training is ideal for Webelos Leaders and Boy Scout Leaders. Camping is a part of the Webelos Den Program so what better place to acquire knowledge of the resources available to you the leader. Webelos Leaders are also able to start networking with Boy Scout troop leaders. The Boy Scout troops in our area are excellent resources to kickoff a Webelos Den’s camping program.

You should pre-register for these sessions. This is especially important for the Introduction to Outdoor Skills because we have a limited number of spaces available. Also your food for the weekend is purchased for you and if we don’t know you’re planning to attend we cannot buy your food. For these reasons, NO walk-ins will be allowed to the Introduction to Outdoor Skills sessions. You need to complete New Leader Essentials and Boy Scout Leader Specific training before attending Introduction to Outdoor Skills. You should plan on attending all three sessions for the full training.
