COUNCIL KLONDIKE

Who: Webelos, Boy Scouts, and Ventures
When: January 22-24
Where: LE Phillips Scout Reservation
What is a Klondike? Many years ago, men raced across the Alaskan frozen wilderness by means of Dogs and Sleds. Scouting has taken this idea and came up with the idea of the Klondike Derby as a winter activity for Scouting.
Each patrol will bring or build a sled, collect materials and equipment, and prepare to embark on the Klondike and participate as a team in the derby. Each team will embark on a separate expedition, following a course to Various Alaskan Cities and points of interest...........................much more to follow on our Alaskan Journey!
Mark your calendars and get your "Teams", patrols and troops ready, and do not forget your senior Webelos. For more information and the registration form, visit the following link: Klondike Flyer

WEBELOS LOCK-IN

The 12th annual Webelos Lock In will be held Friday, February 12th at the Chippewa Falls Middle School. All Webelos I and Webelos II Scouts are invited to attend this event where they have a chance to participate in a cross-over ceremony, pizza party, games, swimming, and rock climbing. Cost is $10 per Scout, $5 per adult. Get all the information from the registration form:Webelos Lock In
Boy Scout Troops are also invited to participate in this event by being present to welcome new Webelos into their Troop, as well as showing a display about their unit’s activities. Boy Scouts in attendance will have a chance to participate in the swimming pool, climbing wall, pizza party and other activities. All Scouts are asked to pre-register by February 9th.

ROSTER CHECKS:

Fall is a crazy time for Scouting; especially for Cub Scouts. During the fall many new boys join. Now is the time to do roster checks in your unit to make sure that all of the youth who have joined this fall are registered so they can advance and are covered under insurance. The easiest way to do your roster check is to send the list of boys in your Pack to Aaron at ajavener@bsa-cvc.org

ROUNDTABLE MEETINGS:

All leaders, Cub Scout and Boy Scout, are invited to participate in the monthly Roundtable meetings in Eau Claire. Join us for an hour of discussion, announcements, resources, and information designed to help you have a better Pack or Troop. Roundtable meetings take place the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

CUB SCOUT LEADER TRAINING:

New and untrained Cub Scout leaders are highly encouraged to participate in Basic Leader Training. In order to be trained, a leader is asked to participate in Fast Start, This Is Scouting, and Youth Protection on the training website: http://www.scouting.org/Training/Adult.aspx as well as Position Specific Training in a classroom. The next position Specific Training is being offered here in Eau Claire on January 26th 2010. Participants should pre-register by contacting Terri Jay at 1-800-SCOUT-02 and should plan on arriving 15 minutes early. Cost for Position Specific Training is $15.
