SCOUT DAY WITH THE CAVALIERS - JULY 16
All Scouts in uniform for the 12 noon game on July 16th will be able to attend the Eau Claire Cavaliers Baseball game at no cost. Scouts will be recognized at the game and deliver the colors prior to the game.
CVC DAY CAMPS
Make plans to attend one of the great Jungle Safari Day Camps in the Clear Water, Glaciers End or Tall Oaks District. Click on the following link to view specific information for each camp: 2011 Day Camp
The Blue Hills District Day Camp will be an Amazing Race through Rusk, Sawyer, Washburn and Barron Counties. The dates are June 11, Rusk County Log Cabin Days in Ladysmith; June 28 (June 29 rain date) Shooting Sports in Hayward; July 30, GeoCaching in Spooner; August 4, Law Enforcement and EMS in Chetek.

ATTENTION ALL POPCORN VOLUNTEERS
We are already making plans for the 2011 Popcorn Sale. Please be sure to have your Popcorn Kernel or a different unit representative plan to attend the Council Popcorn Kickoff on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. We will be meeting at Action City in Eau Claire. Pizza and soda will be provided and each adult who attends will receive a $5.00 Action City gift card. Our Trail’s End Sales Representative will be at the kickoff to answer questions and give us tips. He will also be bringing some prizes! Please join us to kick off another great popcorn sale!

JOPLIN COORDINATED RESPONSE - SCOUTING'S WORK DAY
Our brother Scouts in Joplin, MO, are working to get a devastated school system up and running for this fall. This effort will be August 5-7. The Ozark Trails Council has partnered with the school system to get facilities ready for school opening.
The Joplin School System sustained damage to 10 of its facilities with a total estimated loss of $151 million. There will be temporary locations established for all high school students as well as some of the middle school and elementary students that are displaced due to facilities being destroyed.

COPE INSTRUCTOR COURSE
The Chippewa Valley Council is looking for volunteers to be involved with COPE during the off season at Camp Phillips. There will be a COPE Instructor course held August 12-14, at Camp Phillips. The course will consist of classroom and field experiences on the High and Low COPE course at Camp Phillips. The course will be provided at no cost, but if you want to eat at camp on Saturday, it's $10 for 3 meals. Participants must be approved by the COPE Director to participate. All participants must be 18 years or older. The certification lasts for two years. Every person wishing to be involved in COPE at Camp Phillips must be in attendance. The Course is limited to 20 participants. Please contact Luke McNeese Luke.mcneese@scouting.org for registration and any further information.
2013 NATIONAL JAMBOREE
Spots for the 2013 National Jamboree are filling up quickly. Our Council contingent of 36 Scouts is already 25% full. Interested Scouts should get their information submitted soon!
Boy Scouts are eligible to apply if they:
- are at least a first class Scout
- will be at least 12 years of age by July 15, 2013 or are 11 years old and have graduated from the 6th grade, but have not yet reached age 18 by July 24, 2013
Venture Crew Members are eligible to apply if they are:
- current members of a Venture Crew
- will be at least 14 years of age by July 15, 2013 but have not yet reached age 21 by July 24, 2013
To apply you must do these things:
1. Obtain your BSA Registration number from your Member ID Card or from the Council Service Center (715-832-6671)
2. Create an account, upload your photo, and apply using the Jamboree Web Site: www.summitbechtelreserve.org
3. Your parent/guardian must also create an account and approve of your registration once the youth has watched an informational video on the Summit website.
4. Submit your $100 deposit to the Scout Service Center to hold your spot in our Councils’ Troop or Venture Patrol
The 36 spots in the Troop and 8 spots in the Venture Crew Patrol are first-come first-serve. Apply soon as spots will fill up! Refunds are only given if there is another Scout/Crew member to fill the spot vacated.
** If you have issues with the registration process, please contact the Scout Service Center. If you are having difficulty completing the online portion, submit your $100 deposit with your name to the Service Center. This guarantees your spot until issues with your online application can be resolved.
Chippewa Valley Council volunteers invited to apply for staff positions at 2013 National Jamboree:
Youth age 16 and up and adults are encouraged to consider serving on staff for the 2013 National Jamboree.
To apply you must do these things:
1. Obtain your BSA Registration number from your Member ID Card or from the Council Service Center (715-832-6671)
2. Create an account, upload your photo, and apply using the Jamboree Web Site: www.summitbechtelreserve.org
3. Submit your deposit online
WOOD BADGE REGISTRATION DEADLINE
All individuals seeking to take their leadership skills to the next level have one more week to get registered for this Fall’s Wood Badge course. You’ve heard the promotional plugs; you’ve thought about doing it. Now’s the time to make the jump and get signed up for what will truly be a life-changing experience. Find all the information here: Wood Badge Brochure and get signed up with the Scout Service Center no later than July 19th (hard deadline).
DISTRICT POPCORN KICKOFFS
Help us kick off the 2011 popcorn season! One of the three requirements to earn the 2% bonus popcorn commission is to send two adults from your unit to the August District Kickoff meeting.

BOY SCOUTS: MISSING OUT ON YOUR TROOP'S WEEK AT CAMP PHILLIPS?
Boy Scouts: Will you miss your Troops’ week at camp due to summer school, family vacation, sports camp, or for any other reasons? You can still go to Camp and earn merit badges, check out the BRAND NEW High COPE course, and much more. Sign up as a Provisional Camper with the Scout Service Center and we’ll pair you up with another Chippewa Valley Council Troop that is attending Camp the week that you prefer. All Provisional Campers must sign up at least two weeks before the session they wish to attend. Contact the Scout Service Center (715-832-6671) to sign up.
NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Special thanks to all the youth and adult staff who organized a great National Youth Leadership Training Course. 49 young men spent a week honing their leadership skills. Make plans now to be a part of the course next year held June 10-16, 2012.
