POPCORN KERNELS
Each unit should be selecting a popcorn chairperson that can help coordinate their unit’s sales for the Fall. This person should register with Julie Herman at the Scout Service Center in Eau Claire (715-832-6671 or jherman@bsamail.org). It is encouraged that the Popcorn chair be somebody other than your units’ Scoutmaster or Cubmaster.

ANNUAL PROGRAM PLANNING
All Packs and Troops are strongly encouraged to utilize an annual program plan for their unit, which is a year-long calendar developed before the start of the school year. This includes meeting dates & times, Council & District activities, unit activities, and more. The District Committee is committed to supporting each unit in this process. If your unit would like assistance with this, please contact the District Executive or a member of the commissioner staff to schedule a time to work on your unit's plan.

"BACKPACK TO BASICS" BLUE HILLS CENTENNIAL CAMPOREE
When Scouting began in our country a century ago, troop trailers were unheard of, and scouts relied mainly on their feet and packs to venture out into the wilderness to set up camp. We can show you how to follow in their footsteps!
When: Friday, September 24 - Sunday, September 26
Cost: $10 per Scout/leader; please pre-register with the Scout Service Center by Tuesday, September 21

A full listing of merit badges offered will be available at the September Roundtable.

DISTRICT TRANSITIONS
Blue Hills Scouting Volunteers:
As many of you may have heard via Rountable or other places, September 1st, I will be transitioning to the Clearwater District to serve as Senior District Executive there, as well as to be staff advisor for Boy Scouting programs and Camp Phillips. I wanted to take a moment to express to all of you what an extreme pleasure it has been to be a part of the Blue Hills Scouting community over the last three years. The level of commitment and dedication to the youth of the area served through Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, and Venturing has never ceased to impress me.
I was able to leave many, many meetings and events over the last three years feeling inspired and uplifted after interacting with you and the Scouts in your units. Thank you for your commitment to Scouting and to the kindness that you have shown me in my time in the Blue Hills.
An excellent replacement has already started in the District and I am confident that he will serve all of your units in a quality manner. Please welcome Davey Warner as the Blue Hills District Executive. Davey can be reached via email (drwarner@bsamail.org) or via telephone (715-475-1054).
I look forward to continuing to see many of you at future Chippewa Valley Council events and at Camp Phillips. Please don't hesitate to stick your head in and say "hi" if you are ever at the Scout Service Center in Eau Claire.

Thank you all again and In Scouting,
Joe Carlson
Chippewa Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America
