Scouters may choose to participate in training sessions in any district with dates that suit their schedules. All of the trainers in our council have quality presentations. The cost is $15.00 for Leader Position-Specific Training. The Leader Position-Specific Training fee covers the cost of a Cub Scout Leader Book, the cost of the handouts, and replenishment of the training kits with current information. Check in and gathering for the weeknight courses start at 6:15 P.M. with the sessions starting at 6:30 P.M. Check in and gathering for the Saturday courses start at 8:30 A.M. and the sessions starting at 9:00 A.M. Leader Position-Specific Training usually lasts about 3 hours.

You MUST preregister for all training sessions through the Scout Service Center. For information about Cub Scout Trainings call your District Executive, the Scout Service Center, or check the CVC website.

It is always recommended that leaders participate in the scheduled training sessions so they can network with other leaders. Some trainers may make arrangements to do training sessions in addition to those scheduled by the districts. For any additional trainings, arrangements must then be made with the individual trainers not through the council office. Fees, however, are still paid through the council office along with registrations.

Effective-January 1, 2008 (from National BSA): For Cub Scout Leaders to earn a trained patch, they must print and show copies of the certificates earned from the BSA online courses for Fast Start for the position being trained, Youth Protection Training (good for two years), and This Is Scouting Training. Neither Leader- Position-Specific trainers or the staff at the Scout Service Center will issue a trained patch unless these certificates are presented at the time Leader Position-Specific Training is taken, completed, and recorded. After the trainings, rosters are sent and recorded by the registrar at the Scout Service Center.

All Boy Scout Leader Trainings are ideal for both Webelos Leaders as well as Boy Scout Leaders. Camping is a part of the Webelos Program. Webelos leaders can network with Boy Scout troop leaders through these Boy Scout Trainings. The Boy Scout leaders and troop members in our Council are excellent resources to help develop a Webelos Den’s camping program.

You MUST preregister for all outdoor training sessions through the Scout Service Center.

NO walk-ins will be allowed to BALOO or the Introduction to Outdoor Skills training sessions as there are a limited number of spaces available. Food for these trainings must be purchased prior to the training and the staff will only have food and prepared handout materials for those preregistered.

You will need to complete This Is Scouting and the Leader Position-Specific training for your registered position before attending Introduction to Outdoor Skills or BALOO.

All Cub Scout leaders are strongly encouraged to take the outdoor training to be fully trained for their position.
